KANSAS CITY, KANSAS, U.S. — Three employees were injured in an early morning explosion at Corbion Caravan's Kansas City, Kansas, U.S. on Dec. 6, the company said.

The explosion occurred around 1:30 a.m. on the fourth floor of the seven-story facility located at Kansas Ave and I-635. Two of three employees were receiving treatment at a local hospital on Dec. 6, and the third had been released. The Kansas City area fire crew and emergency personnel responded quickly to the fire alarm, were on the scene in minutes and wrapped up their work around 2:45 am.

The safety and well being of employees is the top priority for Corbion Caravan, the company said. A full investigation is underway into the cause of the explosion.

No business disruption to customers is expected due to available back-up inventories. Corbion Caravan said on Dec. 6 that it expected the facility to be fully operational within the next 24-48 hours.
