AMES, IOWA, U.S. — Renewable Energy Group (REG) announced on Jan. 9 the promotion of Eric Bowen to the newly created position of vice-president, corporate business development and legal affairs to strengthen the company’s focus on growth and diversification.
Bowen formerly served as REG’s executive director, corporate business development & legal affairs and will continue to head the company’s San Francisco, California, U.S., office.

Oh. “Eric’s experience in new business development, contract negotiation and legal affairs were key to creating this new position.”
The company’s strategic goals include optimizing and expanding its fully-integrated biodiesel offerings; diversifying into the production of additional advanced biofuels, renewable chemicals and related products and services; growing its biodiesel business internationally; and expanding its intellectual property base.
Prior to his work with REG, Bowen co-founded Tellurian Biodiesel, Inc. and served as its president and CEO. He has also led Sigma Capital’s biodiesel project finance group and practiced law in Silicon Valley at Venture Law Group.
Bowen has been active in setting biodiesel policy as a founding member of the California Biodiesel Alliance and has served as its chairman from 2007 to 2012. He was chairman of the former San Francisco Biodiesel Taskforce and a member of the former California Air Resource Board’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard Advisory Board.
Bowen received his juris doctor degree from the University of California, Berkeley Law and bachelor’s degree from the University of Oregon Honors College.
