WINNIPEG, MANITOBA, CANADA — The Canadian International Grains Institute (Cigi) announced on Sept. 24 the appointment of Dave Burrows as director, client relations and communications.
Burrows brings over 30 years of marketing, client relations, branding and strategic planning experience to his new role. He is familiar to farmers and industry members for his development of branding campaigns domestically and in international markets to promote Canadian wheat while working at the Canadian Wheat Board where he was employed for eight years. Prior to his experience with the CWB, Burrow held senior positions in strategic planning, client services, branding and marketing for McKim Communications, Palmer Jarvis DDB, the Winnipeg Free Press and Hershey Canada Inc.
“We are thrilled to bring someone with Dave’s depth of experience to Cigi,” said Earl Geddes, Cigi executive director. “His expertise and knowledge in managing client relationships and building crop promotion plans will ensure that Canadian field crops are positioned at the top of the demand list in the global grain processing industry.”
As director, client relations and communications, Burrows’ responsibilities include developing strategic business, marketing, branding and communications plans that will support industry and farmers in the promotion of Canada’s field crops as well as managing Cigi’s growing list of commercial business relationships and partnerships.
“The combination of Cigi’s international renown in customer service and the leadership role it plays in the Canadian agriculture industry make this a tremendous opportunity for me to serve farmers and industry alike,” said Burrows. “I am very excited to be joining such a dynamic team.”
