KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI, U.S. — The Kansas City Board of Trade (KCBT) and the CME Group announced on June 6 that they will expand open outcry trading hours to 2 p.m. central standard time. KCBT made this announcement in relation to its flagship hard red winter wheat futures and options contracts, and CME’s applies to its CBOT Grain and Oilseed futures and options and as well as for Ethanol futures and options. These changes will begin on June 25, pending Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) review.
The Monday through Friday open outcry sessions will close at 2 p.m. CT., the same time that electronic trading closes. Daily settlements will be based on the 2 p.m. close. Currently the open outcry market closes at 1:15 p.m. The changes are effective with the June 25 business date.
The Monday through Friday open outcry sessions will continue to open at 9:30 a.m. CT on most days, with the exception of USDA report release dates, when the market will open at 7:20 a.m. CT (effective business date June 12, the next release date).
