EAGLE, IDAHO, US — Paul Maass, chief executive officer of Scoular, has been named to the Lamb Weston Holdings, Inc. board of directors.

Lamb Weston, a leading global supplier of frozen potato products to restaurants and retailers, announced the six appointments to its board June 30 as part of a cooperation agreement with JANA Partners Management, LP, and Continental Grain Co.

Maass has led Scoular, an Omaha, Nebraska, US-based global agribusiness, since 2016. Scoular is the No. 8 grain handling company in North America with 176.5 million bushels of licensed grain storage, according to Sosland Publishing Co.’s 2025 Grain & Milling Annual. Maass also is a member of Scoular’s board of directors and serves on the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City board.

Maass’ 27-year career began at ConAgra as a commodity merchandiser, and he subsequently served in several leadership positions at the company, including director, ConAgra Trade Group (now Gavilon, LLC); president, ConAgra Mills; president, Lamb Weston; and president, Commercial Foods.

As part of the cooperation agreement, Lamb Weston said additional board appointments include Bradley Alford, a director at Perrigo and Avery Dennison Corp.; Ruth Kimmelshue, senior adviser, Continental Grain; Timothy McLevish, a senior corporate finance executive and board member at Freshpet, Inc.; Scott Ostfeld, managing partner and portfolio manager and JANA Partners; and Lawrence Kurzius, former CEO and executive chairman at McCormick & Co.

The size of the board will increase from 11 to 13 directors, 12 of whom will be independent, Lamb Weston said, with changes in place no later than July 11. As part of the agreement, Alford will be appointed chairman.

“We welcome six highly qualified new directors and believe their deep industry expertise, significant leadership experience and diverse skillsets will be complementary to our board as we continue to strengthen key customer relationships and execute on our strategic objectives,” said Mike Smith, CEO of Lamb Weston.
