BRUGES, BELGIUM — De Heus Animal Nutrition on June 4 announced the acquisition of Voeders Huys, a Belgian feed producer with production sites in Bruges, Belgium, and northern France. The acquisition strengthens De Heus’ position in Western Europe, a region where it already has experienced significant commercial growth and now will produce locally, the company said.
De Heus noted that in recent years its Northwest Europe Business Group has achieved strong commercial growth in Belgium, where it is now the market leader in the poultry sector. Until now, the Belgian market primarily has been supplied from De Heus’ Dutch production facilities.
The company said that with the acquisition of Voeders Huys, “we are further strengthening our local production footprint in Western Europe, specifically in Belgium and Northern France. This not only reinforces our position in poultry but also creates opportunities to expand into other sectors.”
The newly acquired production capacity of approximately 250,000 tonnes per year will enable De Heus to respond more efficiently to growing customer demand in the region, it said.
“This acquisition marks a new chapter in our long-term growth strategy,” said Gabor Fluit, chief executive officer of De Heus Animal Nutrition. “By starting local production in Belgium and France, we strengthen our position in a region with strong agricultural potential. It enables us to grow together with our farmers and supply chain partners, while also reducing our carbon footprint through shorter supply chains. It’s an important step in our ambition to grow globally, with solid roots in local markets.”
Paul Damen, managing director of De Heus Netherlands, said Voeders Huys brings extensive knowledge, a dedicated team and strong customer relationships in the region.
“We see great opportunities to build on this foundation and support livestock farmers in Belgium and Northern France with high-quality, locally tailored feed solutions,” Damen said.
With more than 80 feed production locations in more than 20 countries, De Heus’ feed products are distributed in 75 countries.
