MORGAN, MINNESOTA, US — Farmward Cooperative, which offers agricultural services at 14 locations in southern Minnesota, has hired Alex Busch as senior vice president of grain.

With experience in grain trading, cooperative leadership and strategic market development, Busch joins Farmward from Direct Source Ingredients, where he was senior vice president of trading and business development, specializing in the bulk feed commodity trading sector.

Prior to that role, he was the chief executive officer and general manager of Farmers Cooperative Elevator in Hanley Falls, Minnesota, US, from 2021-23. His career also includes a nine-year tenure at CHS Inc., where he held multiple trading and leadership positions.

“Alex has an experience mix that will provide a level of expertise to our grain marketing efforts that our co-op’s owner-members will benefit from by having access to the best grain marketing alternatives,” said John Husk, CEO of Farmward. “Alex and his family are rooted in our trade area. We are fortunate to have him on our team, bringing both his background and experience.”

Based in Morgan, Minnesota, Farmward’s outlet locations provide a diverse line of products and services that include grain handling and marketing, crop protection, crop nutrients, seed, precision ag, bulk feed manufacturing and delivery, and bulk delivery of energy products.

“I am excited to join Farmward, a strong and established cooperative that puts its patrons’ needs as a priority in an agricultural landscape that is rapidly changing,” Busch said. “I’m looking forward to working with my team to help patrons make the best marketing decisions to maximize profitability for their operations. I’m excited to continue and build on the strong foundation that has been built in the grain division at Farmward and bring some different ideas and perspectives to the business.”
