WALLA WALLA, WASHINGTON, US — Northwest Grain Growers (NWGG) and Mid Columbia Producers, Inc. (MCP) members have approved a merger plan for the two Pacific Northwest cooperatives.
The NWGG and MCP board of directors said that 94% of NWGG members and 98% of MCP members who voted approved the merger, which will be effective June 1.
“This is an exciting opportunity for our two cooperatives to come together and build upon the strong foundation of our fiercely independent local cooperative system,” NWGG said. “Let’s welcome the MCP members, employees and communities into our cooperative family as we come together and start on this next part of our journey forward.”
NWGG, headquartered in Walla Walla, Washington, US, is a farmer-owned cooperative that operates in Washington and Oregon, selling certified seed and providing grain handling and marketing services. With 35 grain storage facilities, including 28 country elevators and three terminals, NWGG has 46.3 million bushels of licensed grain storage, according to Sosland Publishing Co.’s 2025 Grain & Milling Annual, making it the No. 38 grain handling company in North America.
Based in Moro, Oregon, US, MCP is a farmer-owned cooperative with grain, seed and retail operations in Washington and Oregon that was formed in 1988. MCP operates 23 grain storage facilities, including 17 country elevators and two processing plants. MCP has licensed grain storage capacity of 13.4 million bushels, placing it 85th among North American grain handlers, as listed in the 2025 Grain & Milling Annual.
