VASTERAS, SWEDEN — Abdon Invest AB, a Swedish company based in Västerås, has entrusted Ocrim with the development of highly automated palletizing lines to optimize the packaging and logistics of its products.

Thanks to an advanced robotics system, the plant can now handle bags and packages of different sizes with high precision and efficiency.

The first line is a “combi-robot” solution designed to manage 5 kg, 12.5 kg and 30 kg bags. At the heart of the system is a robot that places the bags inside a layer compactor, which then deposits them onto the pallet. Completing the process is an AV555 stretch wrapper equipped with a film pre-stretch system, ensuring load stability and safety during transport and storage.

Lines 2 and 3 have been developed for handling 2 kg bags and bundles, with a design focused on maximizing productivity. Two smaller robots handle the positioning of the 2 kg packages, while another robot, equipped with a vacuum gripper, picks up the entire layer of packages and precisely places them inside a box. The bundles, on the other hand, are directly palletized on pallets by another dedicated robot. In these lines as well, the AV555 stretch wrapper with a film pre-stretch system ensures adequate protection of the final product.

One of the most complex aspects of the design and testing phase was ensuring compliance with the customer’s required rate: 60 packages per minute. To achieve this, an innovative solution was developed where the smaller robots operate on a structure above a slat conveyor, transporting and positioning the packages with millimeter precision. The next phase involves compacting the layer according to the specifications agreed upon with the customer, followed by the vacuum gripper's pickup and placement into the dedicated box.

Another process optimization concerns pallet handling. Initially, the boxes are placed on Düsseldorf pallets (600x800 mm). Subsequently, two full pallets are combined and transferred onto a 1200x800 mm pallet to simplify transport and storage operations, reducing internal logistics handling times.

Thanks to the collaboration with Abdon Invest AB and the innovative vision of its owner, Leif Abdon, the project has resulted in the creation of an efficient and high-performing automated plant, Ocrim said. The integration of advanced palletizing solutions has enabled the company to improve productivity, optimize storage space, and enhance safety in handling operations.

With this new Ocrim-engineered configuration, Abdon Invest AB reaffirms its leadership in industrial automation, leveraging the potential of robotics to meet the demands of an increasingly demanding and dynamic market.
