KYIV, UKRAINE — Astarta, a Ukraine-based vertically integrated agro-industrial holding company, recently announced plans to construct a $76 million multiseed crushing plant in the country’s western Khmelnytsky region.
Astarta said the plant’s annual processing capacity of 400,000 tonnes of oilseeds, including soybeans and rapeseeds, will allow the company to expand its range of ingredients for the feed industry. Astarta expects to commission the plant in 2026.
“Astarta continues strengthening its position in processing by investing into new production facilities,” said Viacheslav Chuk, chief commercial and strategic marketing director of Astarta. “The growing demand for soybean products in the EU opens up new opportunities, and we are ready to implement them using our experience and expertise.”
Ukraine is one of the world’s top agricultural producers and exporters for grains and oilseeds. The Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) of the US Department of Agriculture forecast increased planted area for oilseeds for marketing year 2024-25. Sunflower seed production is estimated at 11.5 million tonnes, while soybean production is estimated at 5.1 million tonnes and rapeseed at 4 million tonnes.
