CALGARY, ALBERTA, CANADA — OPI, a global leader in grain storage management, is celebrating its 40th year in business.

“OPI started with a dream to add value to the family farm, and 40 years later, that remains a core tenet we deliver to our farm and commercial customers every day,” said Adam Weiss, president of OPI. “OPI empowers over 25,000 customers in over 75 countries to ensure every grain gets to market.”

Today, OPI and its global network of dealer partners have protected more than 1.75 billion bushels of grain.

Founded in 1984, OPI introduced the first Western Canadian on-farm bin monitoring system, then quickly added automated monitoring and alarm system capability. Founder Dave Crompton drew from the old English adage, “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure,” and the acronym OPI was born: Ounce of Prevention Insurance.

Over the years, OPI has pioneered technology, including digital sensing, insect detection and in-grain moisture sensing technology. The OPI Blue product put grain monitoring in the palm of your hand via wireless/solar technology and app-based remote connectivity.

Most recently, OPI introduced COsensing technology and OPI Blue Lite, an intuitive new handheld device. For the tech-adverse or technology-driven, OPI has a solution to fit any operation.
