OMAHA, NEBRASKA, U.S. — Gavilon Grain, LLC announced on March 7 plans to construct a 2.2-million-bushel, slip-form concrete grain elevator with an additional 2 million bushels of bunker storage capacity near Nora, Illinois, U.S.

The new facility will feature an 8,300-foot loop track with shuttle loading capabilities of up to 80,000 bushels per hour, accessing the CN mainline with BNSF interchange near Dubuque, Iowa, U.S.

“We look forward to serving farmers in northwestern Illinois and southern Wisconsin,” said Marv Hachmeister, vice-president and general manager of Gavilon Grain’s east region. “The Nora facility will complement our Dubuque, Iowa, and Wisconsin operations, providing area producers an alternate delivery point that leverages our transportation network to efficiently deliver grain to destination markets.”

The Nora facility will purchase grain from the 2012 harvest and is expected to be fully operational by the fall of this year. The state-of-the-art facility will be located off of Highway 78 between Nora and Warren, Illinois, U.S. A merchandising team will be on-site by midsummer to meet with area producers to bid on corn and soybeans.
