ISTANBUL, TURKEY — The International Association of Operative Millers (IAOM) Eurasia Conference & Expo is planned Aug. 31-Sept 1 at the Haliç Congress Center in Istanbul, Turkey.

Sessions are planned on global grain production and trading, financial markets and prospects for the milling sector. Invited speakers include representatives from the US Department of Agriculture, Ukrainian Grain Association, Turkish Grain Board, International Grains Council, the Russian Union of Grain Exporters and the Institute for Agricultural market Studies (IKAR).

Other sessions will cover research and development in the milling sector and the miller’s perspectives for grain and milling operations for Eurasia.

The event includes an expo with the latest equipment and services. The conference concludes with a gala dinner and awards ceremony.

IAOM’s Eurasian region includes 32 countries with more than 2 billion people, and some of the world’s largest wheat producers and flour exporters. This includes Russia with production of 71.6 million tonnes of wheat, or 10% of the world’s total; Ukraine with 25 million tonnes; Turkey with 19 million tonnes; and Kazakhstan with 16 million tonnes.

Organizers said they will facilitate the participation of millers from central and eastern Europe, Baltic Countries, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Turkey and other Central Asian republics. In addition, participants are expected from the US, Middle East and Africa regions.

Congress languages will be Turkish, English and Russian.
