LONGMONT, COLORADO, US — Vanessa Baughman has been named interim chief financial officer and corporate secretary at S&W Seed Co. She will succeed Elizabeth Horton, who is resigning as CFO and transitioning to the company’s board of directors.

Prior to joining S&W Seed, Baughman was CFO and vice president of finance of AgReliant Genetics, LLC, the largest North American company focused solely on seed, headquartered in Westfield, Indiana, US. She also held numerous finance roles of increasing responsibility at Monsanto Co.

Baughman received a bachelor’s degree in accounting at the University of Holy Cross and a master’s degree in business administration at the University of New Orleans. She also completed the General Management Program Certification at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.

“Vanessa Baughman is a highly accomplished agricultural chief financial officer with experience at two of the largest seed companies in the world — Monsanto and AgReliant Genetics LLC,” said Mark Wong, president and chief executive officer of S&W Seed. “With progress being made at S&W building out our key centers of value, I believe the financial operations of S&W are in great hands.”

Horton had been CFO at S&W Seed since joining the company from Miller Milling Co. in November 2021. Earlier, she spent more than 20 years at Cargill in a variety of roles, including director of financial planning and analysis for Cargill Animal Nutrition.

Founded in 1980, S&W Seed Co. is a global agricultural company with a vision to be the world’s preferred proprietary seed company that supplies a range of forage and specialty crop products that supports the growing global demand for animal proteins and healthier consumer diets.
