LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, US — Global agribusinesses ADM and Bunge have been named to Investor’s Business Daily’s 2022 Best ESG Companies list, which recognizes 100 companies for superior Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) ratings in addition to strong fundamental and technical stock performance.

In May, ADM released its 2021 Corporate Sustainability Report, which included a list of accomplishments during the past year through the adoption of innovative technology solutions, sustainable agriculture practices and operating processes.

“At ADM, we know that our commitments to driving change through good practices, progressive solutions and mindful actions will result not only in a stronger ADM but also a better world,” said Juan Luciano, chairman and chief executive officer of ADM. “This recognition is a reflection of the progress we continue to make on our sustainability journey, and we are proud to be included on this impressive list.”

In November 2021, Bunge announced a commitment to climate action and sustainability leadership that would make significant enhancements across its global operations, promote decarbonization through regenerative farming practices, and enhance shipping and logistics to achieve science-based targets. The company released its 2022 Global Sustainability Report in May.

“This not only reinforces our focus on making real progress toward climate action in our operations and across our value chains, it also further enables growth opportunities into new markets for our company,” Greg Heckman, CEO of Bunge, said following the November the announcement.

To determine the 2022 100 Best ESG Companies list, Investor’s Business Daily (IBD) started with a company’s ESG sustainability score created by Dow Jones Newswires, an IBD affiliate. Next, Dow Jones provided an ESG-scored list to IBD of all the US-traded companies it tracks, a total of 2,208. IBD then cut the list to 1,693 companies by removing non-public companies and companies with stock prices below $10 a share.

Companies that lacked sufficient data to create an IBD Composite rating also were removed. IBD further qualified the list by cutting it to the top 15% of the 1,693, using their ESG scores, and then selected the 100 with the highest IBD Composite Rating — all with scores of 81 or better.
