SOUTHPORT, NORTH CAROLINA, U.S. — Archer Daniels Midland Co. (ADM) announced on Dec. 18 that its specialty ingredients facility in Southport, North Carolina, U.S., recently reached two significant safety milestones — one year without a recordable injury and 1 million man-hours without a lost workday injury.
“These achievements serve as testaments to our employees’ commitment to safety,” said Perry Sellers, the facility’s safety manager. “This is the second time our facility has reached the 1 million man-hours milestone since 2005, which is notable given that it takes approximately three years for our facility to reach 1 million man-hours.”
Since beginning operations for ADM in 1990, the Southport facility — located on the western shore of the Cape Fear River — has produced a variety of food ingredients for customers across the world, including citric acid, potassium citrate and sodium citrate.  It also currently produces Citri Stim, a proprietary animal feed ingredient.
“Safety is a priority at ADM and our facility,” added Sellers. “All of our employees are dedicated to ensuring that everyone goes home safe at the end of each shift. We share a sense of community responsibility and are proud to produce products that serve vital needs around the globe.”
