KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI, U.S. — Kansas City Board of Trade (KCBT) HRW wheat futures and options volume and open interest increased during the month of October when compared to last month, the KCBT said on Nov. 1.
HRW wheat futures volume increased by 14.2% during the month of October over September, with 331,019 contracts traded compared to 289,956 the month earlier. HRW wheat options traded 5,670 contracts in October versus 2,982 contracts in September, showing an increase of 90.1%.
HRW wheat futures open interest climbed 1% during the month of October, with 164,691 contracts outstanding at the end of the month versus 163,213 contracts at the end of September. Open interest is 5% higher than at the end of October 2011.
HRW wheat options open interest increased 32.6% during the month of October, with 17,234 contracts outstanding at the end of the month versus 12,996 contracts at the end of September.
Total exchange volume increased by 14.9% for the month of October versus September, while total exchange open interest increased by 3.2%.
