DECATUR, ILLINOIS, U.S. — Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM) announced on Oct. 29 two management appointments.
Gary Towne has been named vice-president, ADM Corn Processing. Towne previously served as chairman of the management board of Alfred C. Toepfer International G.m.b.H. (ACTI), a global grain merchandising company of which ADM owns 80%.
Domingo Lastra, previously vice-president, business growth for ADM, has been named chairman of the management board of ACTI. Lastra also previously served as president, ADM South America.
Both appointments are effective Nov. 5.
Towne joined ADM in 1997. Prior to serving as chairman at ACTI, Towne served as ADM’s manager, Global Risk and Ethanol. He received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Indiana University.
Since joining ADM in 1994, Lastra has held a range of merchandising, operations and logistics management roles including president, ADM South America. He received a bachelor’s degree in agricultural engineering from the University of Belgrano in Argentina and a master’s degree in agricultural economics from the University of Illinois.
