PARIS, FRANCE — Unfavorable weather took a toll on France’s soft wheat harvest. It is expected to be the lowest production output in 25 years at 29.22 million tonnes, according to Reuters citing Agritel.

It is a 26% decrease in production compared to the previous crop in 2019.

Michel Portier, director of Agritel, told Reuters, “Abundant autumn rainfall over a large part of the territory made sowing conditions extremely difficult or even impossible.”

Agritel expects a decrease in area and yield for France’s 2020 wheat harvest.

France’s 2020 soft wheat crop quality is anticipated to be low as well, Reuters said.
