BAGHDAD, IRAQ — Iraq’s trade ministry has purchased 3.56 million tonnes of domestic wheat since the start of harvest in April, Reuters reported.

Local production is expected to reach 6 million tonnes, the agriculture ministry said.

Iraq officials said in March the country would need to import 1 million tonnes of wheat to increase reserves due to food supply chain concerns amid the coronavirus.
