CALGARY, ALBERTA, CANADA — Viterra Inc. announced on Nov.8 that it has opened a new office in Hamburg, Germany to further strengthen Viterra's market intelligence network in Europe.

"Over the last several months, we have taken decisive steps to enhance our competitive position as a preferred supplier of food ingredients in the international marketplace. Our entry into Germany adds to our extensive reach in the northern hemisphere, strengthening our ability to satisfy demand in European destination markets and beyond," said Don Chapman, Viterra's senior vice-president, international grain.

The office will focus on the company's core commodities including wheat, barley and canola, and perform several strategic functions.

"Our Hamburg location is an ideal fit in our international structure, allowing Viterra to originate grains and oilseeds from France and Germany, facilitate further trade within the E.U., and increase imports and exports to and from Europe," said Christian Joerg, vice-president and managing director, Europe.
