INVER GROVE HEIGHTS, MINNESOTA, U.S. — During the month of March, U.S. farmers, ranchers, community members and organizations and CHS employees worked together to raise more than $500,000 and 94,959 pounds of food for the annual CHS Harvest for Hunger food, funds and grain drive.

Donations and contributions will be arriving at food shelves and other charitable organizations in the local communities served by CHS in the next few weeks. Since 2011, CHS Country Operations retail businesses have organized the campaign to gather money and food for local and regional food shelves across the country. With this year’s total, the cooperative has now raised more than $6 million and 4.5 million pounds of food in the nine years since the campaign was launched.

“As a cooperative, we know how to work together toward a common goal,” said Rick Dusek, executive vice-president, CHS Country Operations. “Every day, our owners are working to feed the world. We also love to have fun while supporting a worthy cause such as raising food, funds and grain to help those in need in our own communities. We are proud to organize and support this drive to help local food shelves, who are doing important behind-the-scenes work in our communities.”

CHS business units across the United States, from Illinois to Washington, participated in the 2019 CHS Harvest for Hunger drive held March 1-20. The motivation behind the campaign is to fight hunger in rural communities.
