MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA, U.S.  – Registration is now open for the 2019 GEAPS Leadership, Education and Networking Workshop. The two-day event will focus on human resources topics, and is an opportunity for grain industry professionals to build leadership skills and expand their professional networks.

 The workshop will be in St. Paul, Minnesota, U.S., at the InterContinental St. Paul Riverfront July 16-17. It features two speakers addressing: creating welcoming and inclusive communities; communication, diversity and perspective; and hiring, training and retaining top talent. The event is free for GEAPS members and $249 for non-members. Last year 130 grain professionals registered.

 The workshop also features a networking reception on July 16 and networking breaks throughout the day on July 17.

Jeff Jones, MKC, is part of the task force that plans the workshop, and last year he brought 10 young leaders and frontline managers to the event.

 “They learned valuable information, including soft skills that will help them perform at their job,” Jones said.  “We are looking forward to building off the success of the last couple years of the workshop. I am excited for Keith and Mike’s sessions, and the information that our employees will bring back to their facilities.”

Workshop speakers include:

  • Keith Edwards: keynote address, creating welcoming and inclusive meetings;
  • Mike Gregory: communication, diversity and perspective;
    • Hire, train and retain top talent.
