WASHINGTON, D.C., U.S. – The U.S. Grains Council (USGC) promoted Pooja Pokharel to manager of program funding.

Pokharel joined the USGC in 2015 as the junior accounting assistant, aiding domestic and international accounting managers. In her new position, which was recently created by the USGC board of directors, she will help track and comply with regulations related to funding from a growing array of sources.

“Pooja’s education plus experience at the Council provide a firm foundation for her new role,” said Helen Elmore, USGC director of finance and administration. “She will continue to work closely with the accounting team as well as expand her collaboration with global operations to ensure we are all good stewards of the Council’s funding.”

Prior to working for the USGC, Pokharel served as a data analyst for the Travel Channel, where she assisted with budget planning and data entry. She earned a master’s degree in business administration from Virginia International University and an undergraduate degree in management from Wichita State University.

“I am very excited and look forward to new challenges that this new position will bring as I continue to develop professionally and thrive personally,” Pokharel said. “I would like to thank my colleagues who have supported me all along. I look forward to guidance and support from everyone in the future.”
