MOSCOW, RUSSIA — Denying reports that it was planning to curb grain exports, Russia, the world's largest wheat exporter, said on Feb. 27 it does not plan to impose trade restrictions, according to a report from Reuters.

The Agriculture Ministry dismissed recent media reports that it had set quotas on exports for traders, adding that it forecasts grains exports to reach 42 million tonnes in 2018-19, according to Reuters.

Russia exported 36 million tonnes of grain in 2017-18.

“The ministry does not currently see any prerequisites for (the forecast) review and does not discuss the introduction of any restrictive measures for grain exports,” the ministry said.

Russia is the world’s top wheat exporter and is expected to ship out 37 million tonnes in 2018-19.
