RICHVALE, CALIFORNIA, U.S. — Lundberg Family Farms, a provider of organic rice, rice products and U.S.-grown quinoa, is ramping up its commitment to clean, renewable power. The company said it has installed and deployed three new solar arrays at its headquarters in Richvale.

With the addition of the new solar arrays, Lundberg Family Farms now owns and operates six solar arrays throughout the facility. The arrays are expected to expand the company’s onsite generation by more than 250% and increase its annual offset of energy use to 25%, up from 10% previously.

Lundberg Family Farms said one of the solar arrays covers the roof of its snacks facility, a move that is expected to offset 45% of the snacks facility’s annual energy usage.

A second solar array is installed at the harvest building and farm shop. Lundberg Family Farms said this array will help offset approximately 60% of the energy for equipment used to dry and store rice.

The third and final solar array has been installed as rooftop panels in the administration office. The array is expected to generate nearly 80% of the office’s energy needs.

Lundberg Family Farms said the new solar panel system will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 24,660 tons over the next 25 years.

“The Lundberg Family Farms mission statement is: ‘To honor our family farming legacy by nourishing, conserving, and innovating for a healthier world,’” said Grant Lundberg, chief executive officer. “This statement inspires our family and employees with the purpose for our work that started with my grandparents to ‘leave the land better than we found it.’ At Lundberg we’re excited to do our part and follow in the footsteps of our founders by looking for ways to nourish, conserve, and innovate for a healthier planet.”
