CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, U.S. — CME Group, a worldwide derivatives marketplace, on Jan. 3 reported that its annual average daily volume (ADV) for agricultural commodities in 2018 increased 9% over the previous year, rising from 1.35 million contracts to a record 1.48 million.

For December 2018, ADV for agricultural commodities averaged 1 million contracts, down 5% from December 2017.

Corn futures and options ADV in December 2018 grew 12% over the same month in 2017 to 267,000 contracts.

Hard Red Winter Wheat ADV in December increased 1% year on year to 35,000 contracts, while wheat options ADV rose 21% to 26,000 contracts.
