VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLOMBIA, CANADA — Paterson Grain and affiliated partners, reopened the Alliance Grain Terminal Ltd. (AGT) in Vancouver, British Colombia, Canada. AGT recently completed an extensive ship loader and dock conveyor upgrade to its existing site.

Mainland site construction work began just over a year ago and was completed last month to facilitate the upcoming peak export season. The official unveiling of the updated ship terminal will be celebrated in early fall 2018.

Speed of loading, increased capacity, dust control and overall functionality were key priorities for the extensive remodel. The facility is now capable of loading up to 2,000 tonnes per hour, can load during inclement weather and is able to load on two berths. The terminal also has an integrated dust suppression system, ensuring clean operations from receiving to shipping.

The terminal is capable of loading Panamax shipping vessels without the need to “spin” the ship to complete loading.

“These upgrades will not only allow for improved efficiencies for both AGT and Paterson Grain’s customers, but will also assist in reducing vessel congestion in the harbor,” the company said.

This is the most recent terminal opening for Paterson Grain. On Aug. 29 the company opened its new C$25 million Foothills terminal in Bowden, Alberta. It is Paterson’s fourth grain terminal in Alberta, joining locations in Dunmore, Flagstaff and Long Plain.
