AVON, INDIANA, U.S. — Co-Alliance, LLP, one of the largest agribusiness and energy marketing and supply cooperatives in the Midwest, is set to close its grain elevator in Remington, Indiana, U.S., on Aug. 31, according to the Rensselaer Republican.
Russ Hammer, manager of the grain elevator, told the Rensselaer Republican that the closing reflects the facility’s age and the inability to install the proper safety measures inside. The grain elevator was built around the mid-1950s, Hammer said.
According to Sosland Publishing Company’s Grain & Milling Annual 2018, the Remington grain elevator has upright capacity of 1.3 million bushels and flat capacity of 500,000 bushels.
