Organizers of VICTAM Europe 2001 have announced new dates for the feed industry conference and trade show, which was canceled earlier this year because of the foot-and-mouth disease outbreak in the U.K. and other countries. The event is now set for Nov. 6-9 at Utrecht, the Netherlands, and will be held in conjunction with VIV Europe 2001, an animal husbandry show.
Henk van de Bunt, VICTAM International’s general manager, noted that the crossover of visitors in the related industries should be "considerable." The last VIV show in Utrecht attracted almost 55,000 industry executives from all over the world, and advance registrations for VICTAM’s April event had totaled about 10,000. "By co-locating these two major international events, it is anticipated that the visitor numbers will be even greater," van de Bunt said.
Van de Bunt said the FMD outbreak appeared to be firmly under control, with no new cases in the Netherlands or its neighboring countries reported in recent weeks.
