Ten students recently were awarded certificates for completion of the 16th feed technology course held by the Swiss Institute of Feed Technology, Uzwil, Switzerland. The graduation ceremony also featured presentations by international feed manufacturing specialists, who addressed the industry's outlook.
Students from Germany, Austria, Brazil and Switzerland attended the Swiss Feed Institute's 16th feed technology course. Ernst Nef, front left, is the school's director.
Competition was tough for the Swiss Feed Institute's traditional plate, awarded to the student with the highest course marks. Sven Lessmann, right, of Switzerland, won the award, and received congratulations from Antonio Apercio Klein, left, of Brazil, whose marks were only 0.07 lower. Arthur R. Wettstein, center, member of group management for Buhler Ltd., Uzwil, presented the award.
Hubert Grote, representing the German Association of Feed Manufacturers, said structural changes were pushing 6% to 7% of German feed manufacturers out of business each year, a trend he said would continue to affect businesses with capacities of less than 5,000 tonnes.
