Turner Chilled Rolls Ltd., Ipswich, U.K., a part of the Davy Roll Group of companies, continues to be a world class rollmaker. Its success was strengthened after being acquired last year by the U.S.-based forged steel rollmaker Union Electric Steel Corporation. More than 80 tonnes of rolls each month are exported worldwide. Flaking, cracking and crumbler rolls; smooth, micronizing, straight or spiral flute rolls; and hollow, solid or water-cooled rolls are all cast and fully machined at the company's factory in Ipswich. The Turner roll uses a unique "one-shot" metal pouring technique to produce a homogenous roll that will not laminate and is resistant to shear stress, bending moments, deflection and premature failure. Successful re-corrugation without problems is the hallmark of Turner rolls.
