The static cast roll has "come of age," said Turner Chilled Rolls Ltd., Ipswich, Suffolk, U.K., with the release of its newest rolls. Turner rolls are manufactured using a one-shot pouring technique to produce a sound, homogenous roll that will not laminate and resists stress, bending moments, deflection and premature failure. To enhance roll identification, Turner rolls carry a unique, chemically-etched brand. Turner produces standard roll types as well as uncommon or special designs, all conforming to ISO 9002 standards. Two grades — standard chilled iron and Ni-Chrome — are produced at the company's foundry in England, backed up by on-site machining facilities, quality assurance and technical functions.
