After years of cautioning against the practice of "tying back" or "choking off" a fall protection lanyard, a new Miller lanyard has been designed for exactly that application by Dalloz Fall Protection, Franklin, Pennsylvania, U.S. The new Miller BackBiter lanyard with SofStop shock absorber is engineered to keep fall arrest forces below 900 lbs. The webbing on the BackBiter is made of heavy-duty Cordura, which provides five times the wear resistance of standard webbing. The BackBiter is available in green and orange nylon and in blue polyester for harsh environments where chemical contaminants are a concern.
