OMAHA, NEBRASKA, U.S. — The Scoular Co., a U.S. grain company based in Omaha, recently acquired the assets of Foxley Grain Co., including elevators in Nebraska and Iowa and management agreements covering businesses operating in Nebraska, South Dakota and Iowa. Also included in the acquisition was Foxley Freight Services, while Foxley Cattle Co., headquartered in La Jolla, Calif., was not included.
John M. Heck, executive vice-president of Scoular, said the acquisition of Foxley Grain, also based in Omaha, represented a "tremendous opportunity" for Scoular to further expand and enhance its current grain marketing, grain storage and freight services operations. The three facilities acquired in the transaction are in Fremont and Grainton, Nebraska, and Woodbine, Iowa.
According to Scoular, the agreement will raise the company's overall grain storage capacity to 48.2 million bus (1.3 million tonnes, wheat equivalent), an increase of 12.8 million bus. The Fremont elevator will be folded into the Scoular Grain Marketing Division, while the remaining facilities will be overseen by the Scoular Country Elevator Division.
