The U.K.-based Branscan recently introduced its Fluoroscan system that uses ultraviolet light to simultaneously measure bran, aleurone and ash. The instrument can be used on-line or off-line for quality validation of flour or semolina. The system requires no daily or seasonal calibration and offers millers a quality check within minutes. Because the unit provides both a fluorescent image and a visable image, both can be analyzed for an accurate reading of impurities in the scanned product. Visit www.branscan.com for more information.
