Behlen Mfg. Co., Columbus, Nebraska, U.S., was established in 1936. Today, products are produced and shipped worldwide from its 850,000 sq. ft., ISO 9001-certified facility.
The global need for Behlen technology and products continues to be a growing entity and important market for Behlen. Products include grain silos, grain dryers and metal building systems. Steel silos are available up to 19,000 tonnes (670,000 bus) and hopper bins to 1,450 tonnes (36,750 bus). "Berico" commercial dryers can be designed for grain, oilseeds or rice up to 140 tonnes (5,000 bus) per hour.
Behlen commercial grain storage bins feature a unique trapezoidal wall panel with built-in wind bands, allowing them to withstand winds up to 90 mph with no additional reinforcement. Wall stiffeners are designed for fast, precise, bolt-together assembly. All stiffeners are anchored directly to the concrete. The Behlen roof is certified to withstand 20 lbs per square inch of live load. Continuous rafters provide strength and continuity from roof to wall.
Berico grain dryers, manufactured by Behlen, are designed for low-cost drying and quality grain output. Berico efficiency is obtained by recirculating up to two-thirds of all pre-heated exhaust air and utilizing a unique "Turn Flo" grain exchange during the drying process.
Berico dryers are clean, quiet and fuel-efficient. Single tower units dry up to 5,000 bus per hour; additional tower units can be added to meet desired capacity. Berico dryer designs are available for all cereal grains, edible beans and coffee, milo, rice, soybeans or sunflowers. Energy sources include gas, oil or steam.
