New sales of U.S. wheat to Cuba confirmed

WASHINGTON, D.C., U.S. — In a surprising development, Cuba has made additional purchases of U.S. agricultural commodities, including at least 75,000 tonnes of hard red winter wheat, U.S. Wheat Associates said. In a separate announcement, ADM/Farmland said it would deliver hard red winter wheat valued at U.S.$9.4 million to the island nation.

U.S. semolina and durum flour data

WASHINGTON, D.C., U.S. — Production of straight semolina and durum flour by U.S. mills in 2001 totaled 31,498,000 cwts, off 0.8% from 31,749,000 in 2000, according to the Bureau of the Census of the U.S. Department of Commerce.

Durum grind in 2001 amounted to 1,892,433 tonnes, off 0.2% from 1,896,570 tonnes in 2000.
