WAARLE, THE NETHERLANDS — Goudsmit Magnetic Systems BV has built the largest pipe magnet ever for a client from Denmark. The three-meter-high electro pipe magnet was fitted in an unloading installation for grains in a Danish port.
A system uses a hose to suck up grain from a ship after which the pipe magnet immediately removes both coarse and fine iron particles that can cause sparks and dust explosions and damage to machines. Iron particle removal helps improve product quality.
The pipe magnet has a capacity of 550 tonnes per hour. Cleaning is simple; after switching off the power, the iron particles can be removed via a slide box.
