GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA, U.S. — Global Industries, Inc. recently announced its second acquisition in the past six months with the purchase of Brownie Manufacturing, a manufacturer of structural support systems for grain elevator legs and conveyors in Waverly, Nebraska.
Last month, Global Industries said it had signed a letter of intent to acquire Sentinel Building Systems, Albion, Nebraska, a manufacturer of commercial and industrial metal buildings (see World Grain, June 2000, page 77).
The Brownie Manufacturing name will be changed to Brownie Systems, according to Don Anderson, president and chief executive officer of Global Industries. "The acquisition of Brownie Systems enhances our position to supply complete grain storage and handling systems for domestic and international markets," he said. "This is a great fit for our company, our dealers and our customers around the world."
Chris Hoffman, general manager of Brownie Systems, said, "We are excited about the opportunities this new relationship brings to Brownie Systems. The knowledge, experience and financial strength of Global Industries will enable Brownie Systems to further its reputation for innovation and unmatched quality."
Brownie Systems' complete line will continue to be manufactured and marketed at its current location.
Global Industries also manufactures, engineers and designs grain storage and handling systems under the MFS/York/Stormor brand names. Its steel buildings are made and marketed under the Sentinel brand.
