GBS Group S.p.A., and Kice Industries, Inc., Wichita, Kansas, U.S., recently announced an agreement under which Kice will market, support and service the GBS line of equipment in the United States and Canada.
Kice, in addition to being the exclusive agent for the GBS Group in North America, will also manufacture and service GBS milling equipment and plant systems in the United States. GBS Group manufactures equipment under the Sangati-Berga and Golfetto brand names.
"We wanted to develop a completely different approach to this market," Lodovico Bernardi, who is responsible for the North American market for GBS Group, said of the agreement. "To achieve this, we looked for a partner well known in the milling industry and with a strong structure in the U.S."
Kice personnel will be trained in Italy to service GBS equipment and will handle spare parts for the company.
"We understand that our project is quite ambitious, but we are confident that we will be able to present the first piece of GBS equipment manufactured by Kice in the U.S. at the trade show of the Association of Operative Millers next May in St. Paul, Minnesota," Bernardi said.
Tom Kice, president of Kice Industries, said a particular attraction of the agreement with GBS Group was that both companies would continue as family-owned, independent businesses.
"There is no change in ownerships, but both companies will combine their comparative advantages to enhance the value offered to the milling industry in the United States and Canada," Kice said. "This relationship allows Kice and GBS to offer the most complete line of milling systems/diagrams, from the KSU short-flow mill to the most complex conventional programs."
Kice Industries will provide after-sales service, spare parts and components for both existing and future GBS equipment. It also will provide electrical and automation support for GBS equipment users, Kice said.
Kice also announced that Robert Bonanni has joined the company as director of GBS equipment sales. Bonanni has more than 17 years experience representing Sangati equipment. He will be based at Kice’s headquarters in Wichita.
