Rhino Hyde Polyurethane, manufactured by Tandem Products, Inc., Minneapolis, Minnesota, U.S., has been on the market for 35 years. Tandem spent years of research developing a new wear liner material that does not feed a fire. This year, the company's chemical/mechanical engineering team introduced FireStop Rhino Hyde, an anti-abrasion sheet made of fire retardant material designed to improve the fire safety of material handling operations. A successful prototype material was unveiled in the fall of 1998. Test panels were distributed to more than five grain handling facilities for field-testing, with positive results to date, the company said.
