Topics ranging from a wheat tempering survey to developing vendor/supplier quality evaluation programs will be issues of discussion at the Association of Operative Millers 102nd annual technical conference and trade show to be held May 2-6 in Phoenix, Arizona, U.S. This year's theme is “Creating Customer Value Through the A.O.M.”
The conference opens May 2, with committee meetings taking place throughout the day. The Latin American technical session will be held in the afternoon and includes a discussion on fortification of bread by Jorge David, president of ALIM.
The 1998 A.O.M. technical sessions get under way on May 3. Included in the morning schedule is the “What's New?” program, which features twelve papers describing newly developed products and services for the milling industry. The program will be followed by the grand opening and ribbon cutting of the trade show by Jerry Kuhn, A.O.M. president, and other officials.
Richard R. DeGregario, president and chief executive officer of Pioneer Flour Mills, San Antonio, Texas, U.S., will deliver the keynote address at the May 4 A.O.M. breakfast. The annual “Mainline Program” of technical sessions begins thereafter.
The sessions cover a vast array of topics, including alternatives to methyl bromide, mill construction trends, a comparison of eight- and four-rollermill grinding performance, computer applications in the milling industry and compact flour milling concepts and applications.
The A.O.M. 102nd annual banquet will take place on May 5, featuring the introduction of the 1998-99 A.O.M. president, recognition of the retiring president and an awards ceremony.Trade Show Exhibit Hall D, Convention Center
