BANGKOK, THAILAND — Charoen Pokphand Foods Plc. (CP) has announced plans to invest US$18.9 million to construct two new feed mills in Thailand next year to meet domestic feed demand.
Located in the major livestock centers of Khon Kaen and Nakhon Pathom, the poultry and hog feed mills will each have the capacity to produce 300,000 tonnes a year.
CP commands 40% of Thailand’s estimated 9 million tonnes demand for animal feed, which is growing by 5% to10% a year as increasing numbers of farmers turn to commercially produced feed.
CP has some 20 feed mills in Thailand. It is one of the world’s largest feed producers, with feed mills in twelve countries, including China, where it has 104 feed mills in 29 of the country’s 31 provinces.
