According to the Food & Agricultural Organiz-ation, up to 25% of each year’s grain harvest is destroyed. One cause is the self-heating of grain due to its respiratory charac-teristics, as well as mold growth and insect development. For more than 30 years, the Granifrigor grain cooling unit from Axima Refrigeration, formerly Sulzer-Escher Wyss, has been used to protect stored grain. Cold storage is a natural way to preserve grain without chemical use, and a one-time cooling is sufficient for long-term storage. The Granifrigor allows for continuous adjustment of relative humidity and temperatures.
