OMAHA, NEBRASKA, U.S. — ConAgra, Inc. has fortified its e-commerce focus with the recent purchase of the Emerge business of Litton Industries, Inc., which provides agricultural and land-use information services.
The Emerge system, based in Billerica, Massachusetts, U.S., provides a database, pest and disease alerts, site specific and regional weather information, yield modeling, agricultural research and other management tools to help improve yield and quality throughout the growing season, according to ConAgra.
ConAgra's United Agri Products group, a distributor of seeds, fertilizer products and crop protection chemicals, accounts for 20% of ConAgra's U.S.$25 billion in annual sales. The group developed a web site, www.mpower3.com, to provide growers the technology needed to increase production and manage their land better, ConAgra said.
