CANADIAN Breadmaker Weston Bakeries Ltd., in Toronto, Ontario, is expanding production and distribution of "The Better Half," a product that combines two separate varieties of bread in the same package.
Weston believes The Better Half is the first commercially produced bread of its kind in the world. The initial product, marketed under Weston's Country Harvest brand, is half "Stone Milled 100% Whole Wheat" and half "Harvest White" bread. The packaging also is unique as it can be opened and closed from either end. Weston said it plans to add three more multi-variety loaves, which will be selling throughout Canada by 2000 and eventually the United States.
