Bogasari Flour Mills has applied for registration under ISO 9000 standards to be the first food manufacturing company in Indonesia to achieve that status. Indeed, Bogasari will be one of the first food companies outside of Europe to achieve certification under this demanding procedure.
“We are very proud that we believe our controls and operating standards are of a high enough quality to earn this registration,” Palmiro Baccinelli, factory manager, said.
ISO (International Standards Organization) procedures are relatively new in the food industry outside of Europe, and especially in Asia. The program, aimed at applying strict documentation to each plant's operating process, is particularly new in the Far East, Mr. Baccinelli said.
He emphasized that ISO 9000 certification was being sought not just for a single aspect of Bogasari's mammoth operation in Jakarta, but also for the entire complex.
