Oganizers of the AFIA*AGRO de las Americas are especially optimistic about this year’s show, set to take place once again from March 6-8, 2003 at Expo Guadalajara in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. With tariffs on meat products being eliminated in 2003 under the NAFTA agreement, the Mexican livestock industry is looking for new ways to modernize in order to thrive and is hungry for new technology. And with government assistance programs now in place, they expect to see interest from buyers.
AFIA*AGRO de las Americas started as an exhibition for the feed industry under the sponsorship of the American Feed Industry Association in 1992, with the aim of helping American feed companies to penetrate the Mexican market and in particular to find local distributors and agents. Over the last ten years, AFIA*AGRO de las Americas has evolved into the largest international exhibition for the feed, livestock and agricultural industry in Mexico and Central America. Companies looking to penetrate the Mexican market have been able to select distributors and agents who attend the exhibition in strength.
The organizers claim that domestic companies have seen their sales soar as a direct result of the exhibition. "Both the official country and U.S. State pavilions have been able to directly track sales from the companies in their respective pavilions into the millions of dollars."
This year some new exhibitor categories have been added, including: Automation and Control (computer programs, complete mill control), Bag Handling Equipment (bag handling, bag slitting machines, bag formers, bag filling machines), Waste Disposal Plants, Manure Treatment Systems, Crop Dehydration, and Fertilizer Processing. Over 100 companies will be exhibiting (see Exhibitor list).
The show will open on Thursday, March 6 at 9 a.m. and run until 3 p.m. Saturday, March 8, 2003.
