Cargill, Inc. and ADM Milling Co. have each pledged U.S.$1 million donations to support the construction of a new Department of Grain Science and Industry complex at Kansas State University in Manhattan.
Cargill and ADM executives held press conferences recently to announce their donations. The $1 million gifts will help fund a proposed $5.2-million flour mill at KSU. The mill is one of five new buildings to be constructed in a project totaling U.S.$61 million.
"ADM is proud to support construction of the new flour mill, which will be used to train students for our industry through the four-year milling science program," said Allen Andreas, ADM chairman and c.e.o. He noted that in the long run, the donation helps ADM as much as the school.
